The adopted pet will have a safe, caring permanent home with you and
another space becomes available in our Shelter to rescue a homeless pet in need.
*Please Note:
If you become approved to adopt from us and choose to commit to a certain animal that at the time is too young to adopt or may still need vaccinations or spay/neuter, we will accept a deposit to hold the animal for you until he/she is ready to go home but please know that if you change your mind or if your circumstances change and you are no longer able to complete the adoption, these deposits are nonrefundable.
The amount of this "HOLD FEE" varies, is set by Shelter management and depends on the animal in question.
:The Adoption Process:
When you decide to adopt an animal from Forest County Humane Society and
are at least 18 years of age you must:
Fill out an application and meet the animal you wish to adopt.
If you rent please bring a copy of your lease or written approval from your landlord.

After completion of an application, time for approval will vary as we are very short staffed.
The adoption fee includes a spay/neuter, a 5-way vaccine, a CVI exam, a rabies vaccine, a 4 DX Blood Panel check and a round of dewormer on all dogs that are old enough at time of adoption. Puppies and Kittens the potential adopter is responsible for altering when the animal is old enough. If approved to take home a canine, please bring along a leash and collar at time of pick up.

Pickles the Pit Crew Pup

Meet Pickels, the 95R FCHS Pit Crew Pup! Pickles is about 8 months old and is fully vetted and an amazing little girl that would do great in just about any home. She gets along best with male companion animals. Pickles is an active girl that loves attention and going places with you. She was the FCHS Pit Crew Pup all summer at TNT Raceway in Three Lakes, WI where she got to be a part of the action and represent adoptable dogs and cats at the FCHS and showing off all of her friends with their names on the trunk of the car. Although all of us here want Pickles ourselves, we know she deserves her very own home where she can be the diva of her domain. She is about the size of a beagle and is an English Bulldog/Beagle mix. She is very intelligent and thrives on attention. She did amazingly well with us at the races every Saturday evening and made a big impact on everyone she met.
She walks well on a leash and would do best in a fenced yard. Since she is a short, muzzled girl, she needs to rest in the summer when it is humid and needs extra attention on her wrinkles around her face and nose. Meet Boomer! Boomer is a great boy that is a heart worm survivor! He will need to be on a heartworm preventative, such as Interceptor Plus, and Simperica for flea and tick prevention. We use those here, and they work exceptionally well for us. He is here and doing amazingly well. He walks well on a leash but is a strong male dog. His ideal home would be best as an only pet. But he is a very happy, playful dog that will make someone a great companion! To meet Boomer, get me your applications today!

Meet Kai! He is not your typical lab mix. He is very strong, very high energy, stubborn and a picky eater. He walks well on a leash but will need a very active family. He gets bored easy and always needs something to engage him. He is very intelligent and protective of everything he loves. He would do best in a family with no small children because he is big and goofy and doesn't realize his size. He would do best as an only dog or someone that understands dog behavior. Meet the gorgeous Princess Gaia! She is an extremely vocal girl that loves to hear herself sing and is also extremely energetic! She isn’t the most fond girl of other dogs, so I’m thinking she wants a solo career singing to the beat of her own band. She is exceptionally sweet and would do best in a home with no children and an active lifestyle. She would require a fully fenced yard and no apartments or rentals due to the breed or size restrictions from most landlords.
